Colds Suck!

Young or old, there isn't anything nice you can say about a cold.  Sore throat, sinus pressure, constant hacking and coughing, it really does suck.  As an adult, when I do come down with a nasty cold, I can deal with it.  I take my meds and go on with my day.  But when your young kids and babies get a cold it's so much worse.

I'm lucky.  I have two boys, the oldest almost 5 the youngest just 3 months.  And I so hope I don't jinx myself for writing this but they're pretty healthy kids.  I can count on one hand how many times Ben has actually had a cold.  He's got a rockin immune system that keeps him pretty healthy.  This past winter, he only had one cold, and it lasted about 3 days.  Wil, the baby, hasn't had one yet, thankfully.

I remember the first cold that Ben did have, he was about 6 months old.  And MISERABLE.  You see, he was pacifier dependent (yeah, he loved his sookie) So when it came time to sleep we had a problem.  He couldn't breath through his nose, and he wouldn't sleep without his sookie.  So, mom and baby Ben had a few very LONG nights.  Once, I tried to use that bulb/aspirator thingy that they sent home with us from the hospital, it seems way to big to try and put in his nose.  I think I may have actually tossed it right in the trash after my attempt, out of pure frustration.
