Just another baby picture...
Snuggling With DaddyBefore I got pregnant with Wil I had heard many people say that 2 kids is way harder than one. And I believed them. But I didn't understand just where they were coming from. I only had one son, who, other than his teenager-like attitude, was pretty darn easy. He walked at 10 months, he learned to speak easily, he potty trained in 2 weeks and he can read better than a lot of 6 year olds I know.
Now that I am a Mom of two, things are a lot different. I find myself going days without showering (yuck) and not even noticing...sometimes the thought of a shower doesn't even cross my mind. ( I feel funkeeeeeeee..... sing that to your favorite country song)
Trying to go anywhere alone with two kids is a struggle. Ben being very active, and Wil completely dependent makes me feel like I'm in a Tug-of-War!
Say, for example, the grocery store. Before Wil was born, my rule for Ben was he went into the shopping cart. It made it much easier for me to keep in 'tame' and to avoid any running off events. Well, now Wil has to go in the cart, which means there is no room for Ben. So not only to I have to watch this helpless little infant, I also have to chase his big brother. (Ben is getting better though)
I was able to take both kids to the bank and Tim Horton's the other day. While waiting for Wil's Doctors appointment I needed to kill some time. So the local coffee/doughnut shop was my destination. When we walked in, the first words out of Ben's mouth..."I need to go to the bathroom" - so off we went to the (yuck) public washroom. There was barely room enough for all three of us in there. After completely sanitizing all of our fingers, we went out and ordered our treats. Hot Apple Cider for Me, and an everything bagel toasted with butter - Ben had a peach juice and doughnut. Try carrying that back to the table while carrying the baby in his car seat! Thank goodness for my years and years of waitress experience!
All in all, I have to say I am learning how to cope with two kids. I am outnumbered now so daily life will take strategic measures. I appreciate any tips and tricks that you may have for me - I'm still pretty new to this!

Okay, officially afraid!
Sorry, didn't mean to scare you!
Seriously woman no one and I mean NO ONE would believe me when I said two babies of the same age are difficult! Someday it will get better right?
You are doing a GREAT job! Keep it up!
And don't ever believe it when people tell you that going from 2 to 3 isn't much more work or difficult! Yeah right... My 2 boys are 7 & 4. I dread having to go anywhere with the 3 kids. And I have not tried it on my own yet. Winter makes it harder and being totally at the mercy of a breastfeeding newborn.
It'll get better! Say it with me :)
I've got 4 and my rule of thumb is never ever attempt to go out in public with all 4 kids without a daddy in tow. ROFL If I do dare to do this because there is absolutely something I must have, I go to our grocery store with the truck carts. The baby goes on top of the cart - or in the basket of the cart if his carrier (when we used one) didn't fit safely on top. My 2 girls - just turned 3 and 5 - went in the truck part where they could ride along and pretend to drive, and my 10 year old walked with me. Now, if a truck cart wasn't available, the baby went in the basket part (in his carrier), Alyce went up on top, and Jordan and Kat were threatened with every punishment (taking things away, standing in the corner in the store where everyone could stare) that I could think of if they dared to walk away from me.
Now that the baby is older (10 months), sometimes I have to trust all 3 of the older ones walking. Jordan (my oldest) is responsible for holding his littlest sister's hand and Kat holds the cart.
I never take all of them out to eat by myself. Never. I use a drive through or delivery. ROFL
