My Fridge Doesn't Stink! Does Yours??

Monday, November 30, 2009 Posted by A Busy Mommy

Do you battle odors in your home? Smelly Fridge Syndrome? I know for a while, when I opened my fridge there would be a slight odor, something that didn't make me feel very hungry. I've battled with the every day products that are supposed to stop fridge and freezer odors. You know the usual baking soda products. I never found them to work very well.

The fridge isn't the only place that we battle odors in the home. In my home, the garbage can, compost bin and hamster cage are stink zones, and with small kids, and all the worries of harmful chemicals, I try to stay as chemical free as I can. I've tried using dryer sheets in the areas, constant cleaning and just about every thing else you can think of. Nothing has ever worked well.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try out a newer product. Something I hadn't really heard of before. Innofresh! Innofresh is a chemical free, scent free odor absorber, and I was amazed at just how well it worked!

The Innofresh products eliminates odors by using naturally activated charcoal. Environmentally friendly and mess free, just place them close to the odor offender, and soon your odor zone will be an enjoyable odor free zone! The two products that I received to review were from the Fridge It line. They come in two great sizes, the Fridge It Cube, and the Fridge It Wafer.

I put the Fridge It Cube in my fridge as soon as I received it, and the next morning I woke to a fridge that didn't smell - at all! Impressed with my first trial, I placed one of the Fridge It Wafers in my car, one in my Hamster cage, a Cube by my composter and garbage, and I haven't been let down yet! The biggest bonus (besides no stink) is that there is no mess, no spray, no powder - nothing! Just a little wafer or cube and the stink is gone!

If your looking for more information on Innofresh products, go check out their blog! You'll find great tips and ideas on how to eliminate those odors and great places to use your Innofresh
products!

#ABMChristmas Twitter Party - E.L.F.

Friday, November 27, 2009 Posted by A Busy Mommy

#ABMChristmas Twitter Party Giveaway #8
(Giveaway is now Closed - Congrats to Tarah)

So, last week I received a package from E.L.F. , otherwise known as Eyes Lips Face - the make up company. I've checked out their website in the past and was always amazed at the prices of their make up. Seriously, I don't know how they can offer most of their products for only $1 a piece!

So I received 4 different products to review, and so far I'm loving all of them. First let me detail what I got, then we'll get to the giveaway.

Mineral Foundation $5.00

This is a weightless foundation, that blends into the skin leaving a very natural look. It is 100% mineral based and contains no parabens, preservatives, or chemical dyes. SPF 15

I really enjoyed trying this foundation. It felt very light on my skin, almost like I wasn't wearing any foundation at all. A huge change from my normal heavy liquid foundation. I found it did a good job covering my 'want to hide' spots, I would call it about 'medium coverage'.

Regular and Waterproof Duo Mascara $1.00

This is a must have for your make up bag and purse. On one side you have your regular mascara, on the other, Waterproof! You'll be ready for any occasion or weather!

I'm a huge fan of this mascara. I love simplicity, and anything that saves me time, or space. Having 2 different kinds of mascara in one tube makes my purse a little lighter (just a little) and I know I'm always going to grab the right tube. E.L.F. Mascara is a new staple of mine, one of my new FAVS!!!

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder $1.00

Warm up your complexion any time of year with a touch of sun e.l.f. 's Bronzing Powder.

This is my favorite product so far! I'm of very fair complexion, and I don't use tanning creams nor do I bake myself in a tanning salon. Though sometimes I do like to add a touch of color to my 'glow in the dark' complexion. I've found that the Bronzing powder adds exactly the touch of color I need to my T - Zone, and gives a much more healthy glow.

Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm $1.00

Infused with Shea Butter and Vitamins A & E this lip balm is wonderful for even the most sensitive and parched lips. Best used at night before bed, it coats your lips with natural nutrients and skin soothers.

Being 9 months pregnant, and with the electric heat on daily now, my lips are suffering. It was a relief to my parched lips to have this lip balm. I put it on at night, and in the morning my lips are soft, not peeling like usual. This stays with me all the time for those emergency dry lips moments and works like a charm.

e.l.f. cosmetics would be a great addition to any woman's stocking this Christmas. At such affordable prices you can get so much for so little!

Available to purchase online at eyeslipsface.com, Target and Zellers

One of our very lucky ABM readers/Twitter Party Goers are going to win the Mini Make Up Collection!

Getting Ready For Baby

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 Posted by A Busy Mommy

As the days draw closer to meeting our newest family addition, we've spent a lot of time making sure that we have everything we need for his arrival. With only 3 weeks to go I'm starting to feel more nervous that we're just not ready for it. Especially at night when those Braxton Hicks contractions kick in and I find myself up all night counting the minutes between them.

Though I'm only a little crampy when I get them, I know that they are helping my body get ready for the babies grand arrival. For some reason my mind takes over and wont let me sleep...I just have to count the minutes between.

I have my 37 week appointment tomorrow for my Group B Strep test, and hopefully some sign that all these contractions are doing what they're supposed to. I'm hoping for a 2 cm dilated report but I don't have my hopes up.

The one thing I am really worried about is my Crib. I thought I was all prepared, the crib was set up and the bed was made. Until this week. My mom and I were moving it across the room and the 'headboard' of the crib poped out. I'm pretty sure that they were just glued into place to begin with, and DH is going to re-glue them. But then today, I was listening on the radio when I heard that there was a recall for 2 million Storkcraft cribs sold in Canada between 2000 and 2009. When I got home I checked the brand name and sure enough, my crib is Storkcraft, and falls into the recalled items.

Though I'm sure Storkcraft will send out the replacement parts it still makes me feel uneasy. There was a recall in January 09 (that I was not aware of until today) Another Recall today, and the headboard of my crib. 3 problems before I even put baby in it. Really not feeling comfortable with this crib right now. I hold nothing against Storkcraft - Recalls happen all the time. I just wish it hadn't happened right now, just as we need the crib and don't have the extra dough to replace it.

To learn more about the StorkCraft Recall, You can check out their Blog.

I hope that the parts come quickly, as I don't have a bassinette for baby the crib was where he was going to sleep. Though I co-slept with our first son, I hadn't planned on doing that again either. Really having that I'm not ready feeling right now.

EA Play

Monday, November 23, 2009 Posted by A Busy Mommy

#ABMChristmas Twitter Party Giveaway #7
(Giveaway Now Closed - Congrats to @kris10chumley)

Enjoy some awesome Holiday Games from EA Play this season. These recently released EA Play games are sure to be on most kids letters to Santa.

NERF 2: “N-Strike” Elite features classic rail shooter gameplay and equips players with a cache of fresh features and comes bundled with a newly designed blue NERF SWITCH SHOT EX-3 blaster and attachable red reveal decoder lens that will give players the ability to detect enemy weak spots, solve puzzles and decode secret missions as they blast their way to victory.

Ok, this game is too cool! I played this over the weekend and we just couldn't get enough of it. It comes complete with a Nerf Dart Shooter and 3 darts for In Real Life play, you can take the dart launcher out and slide in your Wii remote, then use the same gun for playing the video game. It also comes with a 'Red Reveal Tech' that allows you to find hidden messages, read codes and find your enemies weak spots! The game play and graphics are awesome! You can play as one of Four Characters, battling some pretty darn tough robots on your mission to hunt down "Bob" and shut him down. Though I wasn't able to get very far in the game myself, DH worked his way through most of it, and he can't wait to get home from work today to try and beat the game. (He was up pretty late full of adrenaline)

Rated E 10+

LITTLEST PET SHOP FRIENDS

Offering co-operative play and delightful new graphics, LITTLEST PET SHOP FRIENDS takes girls and their friends on fun quests such as delivering party invitations, serving up cake and ice cream and gathering party decorations, all in preparation for the biggest LITTLEST PET SHOP party ever!

This game is totally girly, and way too much fun! If you have a little girl who loves to party plan and play with her best girl friends this game is completely for her. In this game you get to plan the Party Of The Year! Your kids can deliver invitations to other characters, Design accessories and style your pets. Collect new pets and personalities, and play tons of games. This game is sure to keep your girls occupied and happy. I had fun playing this game, I found it a lot of fun to design accessories and pretty up my pets. DS and DH were completely uninterested though - Men. Can't appreciate a good game for girls. This can be played single player or 2 player and if I had a girl I'd probably have to buy her her own Wii just to play it. (No way the boys would leave her alone!) Great on both Wii and DS, it's sure to be a hit with the girls!!
Rated E for Everyone

SimAnimals Africa
With its brand new art style, SimAnimals Africa takes players on an adventure across jungles, deserts, savannas, river deltas and more! All new animals, each with their own unique skill, are ready to play like never before. Kicking zebras, rock-breaking rhinos and lions that excel at hunting will assist players in keeping the environment happy and unlocking new areas, animals, and special items. New mini-games give players more ways to interact with the animals.

This is a game that my little guy LOVED! He's a huge fan of Animal Games and SimAnimals Africa suited him to a tee! There are lots of animals to play and you get to tame wild animals. You can unlock items, animals and levels by solving challenges (I had to help him out on a few of those) What I found to be really neat is that ou can trade animals with your friends when you play in co-op mode. Definitely a great game for the kids, suitable for both boys and girls!

Rated E for Everyone

HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT 2

Featuring OPERATION, JENGA, BOP-IT, PICTUREKA, and CONNECT 4X4, HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT 2 offers traditional and new modes to play these Hasbro favorites. MR. POTATO HEAD returns as master of ceremonies and your host in a brand-new “Game Show” mode which transports players to a live television game show studio complete with an audience and “Challenge Wheel.”

I really couldn't wait to try out this game! I'm a huge fan of Mr. Potato Head and he is quite the master of ceremonies. I wasn't left disappointed when I tried this out either. I was very happy with the way the games were played, very similar to playing them In Real Life - Old School Style, but what I really liked was when we played it like a TV game show! Complete with an audience and everything! My favorite is Connect 4, I've always loved that game and found it to be just as good digital style as it is made out of plastic, DH's Fav - Jenga Jenga J J J Jenga. (Sorry, couldn't help myself - I know you'll all be singing that in your heads now!)

Though DS found this just a little on the harder side (mainly because he hasn't played the games in real life - well, he's play J J J Jenga) we were still able to walk him through it, and he picked it up pretty quickly. He seems to like Pictureka! the best. And I'm thinking I may get him the board game as well.

Rated E for Everyone
