Skin MD - Product Review

Here in good Ole' Nova Scotia, this time of year you'll find some very cold weather. And for years I have struggled trying to find moisturizers that will help alleviate my flaky dry skin. First you have to understand that I have crazy sensitive skin, and I react to many moisturizers that I try out. About a month ago, I noticed my hands falling back into their regular winter routine. They were starting to dry out, cracking near the cuticles and creases, and my skin was very flaky.

I received Skin MD Shielding lotion, and at first I was slightly reluctant to try it out. With all the trouble I had gone through in the past with moisturizers and reactions...at the least I was weary. But, I gave it a go, and WOW!!! I am so impressed with the results!! Skin MD allowed my skin to heal itself. I have no cracks, no bleeding cuticles, and my skin is as soft as ever.

How does it work? Well, the Skin MD product that I received is not a "moisturizer" although it does have some wonderful moisturizing properties, in fact it is called a Shielding lotion. When you us Skin MD's Shielding lotion it provides protection for your skin from environmental effects. It helps your skin use it's own natural moisturizers by not allowing those moisturizers to evaporate or dry out. And, for all you Snow Bunnies and Snow Buddies out there, Skin MD would be wonderful on the slopes. With SPF 15, it will help protect you from the harmful rays, while keeping your skin in great shape.

I have to admit, this is a product that I will use for years to come. As we age our skin drys out more and more. Skin MD will by my own little "Moisture Army".

Thanks so much Skin MD

Hump Day

And what a day today will be. I woke with some strange form of energy, I seem to be self propelled towards cleaning the bedroom. Since Ben shares a room with Daddy and I, there isn't much room for mess, but alas....mess there is. I have about 15 loads of laundry to do....and I am soo not exaggerating. It's 9:50am, and I've already got quite a bit in the works. I've picked up most of my laundry and put it all into one monster size garbage bag. I hope to have it half done before I have to go to work. Need to make the beds, Vacuum and clean the bathroom. I have a few writing projects that I need to accomplish throughout the day, I need to do my first Vlog with my new Flip Ultra...and soo much more!! (like feed the fam, and do the dishes...oh how the list could go on and on...Oh..I need to dig out a wordless wednesday photo too.)

Ben and I will go to work for 4pm, He'll scrub the bathroom floors and earn his Toonie, (a Canadian Two Dollar Coin for those who don't know) and I'll do the toilets...Dart Tournament is tonight, so at least I shouldn't be too lonely throughout the night...

Well folks, I need to go put the show on for my GMIL, and switch the laundry over...Have a wonderful HUMP Day and don't forget to fill out my little survey...(Post Below) Come back in a little while for my Wordless Wednesday!

Bad Mommy Day

I was frustrated...Just in a bad mood, PMSing. Ben was over active (as usual) not listening, and spitting out phrases that he learned from "The Cat In The Hat" movie. Not so nice words I might add...Shame. My son loves this movie...giggles and laughs throughout the whole thing...but when he looks at me and says "Son of a Bleep" (exact words) It makes my blood boil.

Anyway...I realized that I was being unfair to him. I had been getting after him for an hour or so, becoming more and more frustrated each time. Not sure just how I realized it...it may have been the steam rolling out of my ears. Either way...I realized...I was being a crappy mom. We all have those days. (I hope) So...what did I do? I gave myself a time out. Unfortunately...I didn't have 28 minutes (Time out minutes = Age of person in time out) to sit in the corner. So I gave myself 3 or 4. I went outside on the step, in the -5 C weather and had and gave myself a good talking too!

"It's not his fault he's bored! He is an only child, and he has no control over that. He spends his days doing what we need him to do, with two working parents, their isn't a whole lot of time for play." (Just a little blip of my lecture to myself) So, after a couple deep breaths, and a few little tears, I went back in the house, gave Ben a big hug and spent the rest of the evening with him. Anything I had to do, I included him. We cooked supper (KD and fried Balogna). He played in the tub for almost an hour. We washed, dried and put away a load of laundry.

When it was bedtime, we read a bunch of books. He loves the Mr. Men and Little Miss books that I passed down to him, as well, his new favorite book that he got for Christmas from his Aunti KiKi. The Gruffalo.

All in all, it ended up being a good night. We went to bed happy, frustration was gone. And my Bad Mommy Day turned into a Good Mommy Day!

Yes.....I'm a Dork!!

So, after reading a post at The Downs Gang, I felt the need to share my Dork Moment with everyone!!! Today, I was rushing around, trying to get my family in the car and make it to work on time when, because I was soooo rushed....I slammed my ear in the door. Yup, thats what I said....I slammed my freekin' ear in the door. Do I have dumbo ears you may ask, no, I don't....but I do have Spock ears.
Here is the ear in question, I know you can't see how much it really does hurt from that pic, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

I Can't See....

Well, that's not completely true, I've lost my glasses. I can see enough to get by. I can drive, though better at night, without the bright light. The bright light hurts a lot. I have something called blupheritis (sp?) and on occasion, usually when the seasons change my eyes just go haywire and produce to much oil, they swell up and I really can't see.

I figured out that that is why I'm on the computer so much. The distance from my eyes to the screen is in focus for me. Probably why I'm so attached to it, it's the only world I can really see. Have you ever had to "Think to See". That's a term I heard a while ago, and it kinda stuck...I have to "think to be able to see."

To replace my glasses is going to cost $500.00. My medical plan covers a measly $100, and right now, our family just doesn't have the other $400 in the budget to make it up. So, after a friends suggestion, I decided to make a post and ask my wonderful bloggy friends if anyone can spare a dollar to two. I will gladly return the favor whenever I can.

Cart Stopper Review and Giveaway!

Photobucket

I have to tell you about something. An ingenious new product geared to help keep our little ones just a little bit safer. This nifty little gadget is definitley a Mom*e Must Have!! Ok, I know, your all wondering what it is I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the Cart Stopper!! One of my biggest worries when I shop with my little one, is keeping him safe in the Cart! Parking lots are a huge danger, and I've found myself chasing a run away shopping cart. Not an experience I want to relive! So, when I received the Cart Stopper, I couldn't wait to try it out! Guess what!! It works!!

All you have to do is attach the Large Industrial Grade Suction Cup to a clean, flat surface on your car, then slide the latch between the rungs on your shopping cart and Voila, a secure cart that isn't going anywhere. This device is so great, that it can be used with out without your children. Even when your shopping alone (cause that ever happens) use the Cart Stopper to keep your cart where you want it!!

The Cart Stopper was created by a husband and wife team. Dyanne and Kevin Houlihan. After a frightening experience with a run away shopping cart (and child) in a Grocery Store parking lot, this couple decided that parents needed a product that would allow them comfort in knowing that their carts (and children) are not going to roll away!!

Well, the wonderful folks from My Lil Monkey's have offered our lucky A Busy Mommy On The Go! readers the chance to win their very own Cart Stopper!! All you have to do to enter is tell me about your parking lot story. Did you have a runaway shopping cart experience, or did you witness one? Have your car been the victim of runaway shopping cart dents? This is a must, if you don't complete this entry, all other entries wont count!!

How Busy Are You?

Are you constantly running, picking up this and that. Moving clothes from room to room, refreshing your email as you run by the computer. Yeah! Me too!! Working full time, being a full time mom to a very very busy 3.5 year old boy, and my online life makes time a very scarce thing in my world. ( oh yeah, I'm a wife too)

I have to say, being a busy mommy is a very hard job. I love it, but it's not easy. I guess Mom was right!lol

I have a hard time slowing my mind down. Even after my rugrat is asleep, the computer is turned off,(never) and I'm on my way to bed, my mind still keeps turning and turning. I find it really hard to sleep through this. I'll get an idea, or something that needs to be done pops in my head, and then I just can't sleep. There have been many nights when I just get back up and do it. lol

I've been trying to come up with ways to avoid this. Unfortunately I can't lay there and read or watch tv, those things keep me awake. Ways to slow down at bed time, so I may fall asleep before 2 am. So far, I've come up with;

~1. Keep a notebook next to my bed, that way when I get one of those great Ideas i can jot it down and not worry about forgetting.
~2. Taking 20 minutes before bed to just sit. After the 'puter is off the TV off and it's quiet.
~3. Get up earlier in the Morning...that way I'm tired earlier at night.

Feel free to tell me about your busy life, and what you do to slow down. I need all the help I can get at this point!!

Honest Scrap Award!!

Wow, I have to say that I am honored! Jacqueline from Blessings Abound has given me my very first award!! Go check out her blog...it's awesome!!

So...

Honorees are to list 10 honest things about themselves - and make it interesting, even if we have to dig deep! Second, we are to pass the award on to 7 bloggers we feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

10 Honest things about Me:

1. I have horrible acne and have since I was 9. I don't think it will ever go away!
2. I am a messy...need I say more?
3. I want a bunch more kids and I sometimes feel frustrated that I can't have that many. My life just doesn't work that way.
4. I love mayo and relish sandwiches....yup that's tartar sauce
5. I have more laundry to do than most can fathom....but I really don't want to do it.
6. I am horrible to wake up in the morning. DH gets really frustrated. (But I sleep really deep)
7. I hate washing the dishes.....Absolutely Hate It
8. I have more unfinished craft projects on the go than I can admit to. I could probably open a craft store with all my supplies.
9. There are certain words that make me cringe, ie/stupid, shutup, ect...
10. I still think people shouldn't swear around kids. I know that many swear words are accepted now, but I don't think kids need to hear them.

The 7 bloggy friends that I feel deserve this award are:

Jaime from Optimistic Beauty
Jen from Keep It Classy
Kim from MommyKnows
Jen from TheDirtyShirt
Pam from Aunt Pams Closet
Toni from A Daily Dose of Toni
Tenille from Feisty, Frugal and Fabulous

Do you get enough sleep?

Just a simple question with millions of answers.

I often spend many nights tossing and turning, unable to get comfy, and finally so frustrated that I end up getting up and plopping in front of the computer until I am so tired I just drop. I would love to be able to crawl into a brand new bed from Time4Sleep Beds and float away off to dreamland. The selection at Time4Sleep is unbelievable! Everything you could ever need can be found at Time4Sleep. From ottoman beds to childrens beds, wooden beds to metal beds, you'll find them all at Time4Sleep. But that's not it, they also carry memory foam mattresses and pillows, bedroom furniture and so much more!

Does the look of your bed matter to you? I know it does to me. Nothing is better then snuggling down in a freshly made, beautifully crafted bed. I like my bed to be reflective of my own personality. And since I spend a third of my day there, it should really be my favorite place. My ideal bed would have a memory foam mattress and pillows, 700 thread count sheets, and the warmest of duvets to keep me warm through these harsh winter nights. What would yours be?

I hope everyone has a wonderful night sleep, and don't forget to check out Time4Sleep!

Changing - Organizing

Photobucket

A Big part of being reborn into "The New Life" is reorganizing everything in it! Now, as some of you know, right now we live in a small space and I have a huge lack of organization problem. Rendering this small space, basically useless. Definitely not functional. So, I've decided that this year I am taking the Organize Now! Challenge.

Interested? Head on over to The Classy Closet and sign up and learn more. Once in there you can not only join the Organize Now! challenge but an Organize Revolution! Plus there's a whole bunch of other great groups too!

My goals this year are to purge everything I own and scale back to a minimal amount of "Stuff". We will be moving in the spring and I really don't want to lug around that much junk.

I also need to organize my computer/computer life/pictures and movies. Clean the whole thing out!! Its crying for it!

There are also a lot of habits I need to break and some I need to create so look forward to those posts soon.

Changing - Sleep

One of the main things I have to change in my life is my sleeping habits. To become a more organized, happy flowing mommy, I need at least 8 hours of sleep every night. So, tonight, I will be in bed at 12:00am. That's in about 28 minutes, Ben is STILL AWAKE and I still need to get my pj's on. So, this will be short and sweet.

For my own personal experience, Sleep is the main factor in my day. If I am not rested I am cranky and my days are a mess. If I am rested, my days flow much smoother and I am much more tolerant with the world.

Tomorrow I will go further into the effects of sleep, but for right now, I have to "Hit the hay"

Good Night everyone, and Happy New Year!

Boogie Wipes Giveaway!!! Sorry this ones over

Review To Follow!

Tis the season for runny noses and sniffley children. Winter is long and cold where I am from, and the cold season tends to last just as long as the winter. My little guy cowers in fear when he sees big bad mommy coming after him with the tissues, or even worse, the snot sucker thingy. I can't wait to try out Boogie Wipes on him.

Boogie Wipes are not just you basic baby wipe, the are infused with natural saline that keeps your little ones nose from getting red and chapped. Also makes cleaning up those dried on boogies much easier as the natural saline helps to break down the boogie.

Well, one lucky A Busy Mommy On The Go! Reader is going to win their very own boogie wipes to try out!! All you have to do is head over to Boogie Wipes and tell me something from the site that peeks your interest and makes you want to try them yourself! This step must be completed for all extra entries to count!

Extra Entries please leave a separate comment for each entry.

2. Tweet about this giveaway and leave a link to the specific tweet in your comment or your twitter name.
3. Fave me in Technorati
