My Little Boy - the Technology Geek

And I'm so proud of him for it.
You know, as mom's we all do things differently, from how much 'screen' time we allow our kids, to what foods we let them eat, to how many naps we give them in the run of a day. And what works for each individual family is what's right. No need to be critical.
For me, I am addicted to screens - as are many of you reading this, if not, you wouldn't be here. My son is definitely taking after his mom in that aspect as well. And I don't feel on bit bad about it! We started playing video games with him a little over a year ago, and he's since become an avid gamer. (at 4.5) Now some would say that he shouldn't be playing video games that young, I say why not??
Between Computer games and Video Games (on TV) he has gained skills that have advanced him in a lot of ways.
#1 - His reading skills - He can read just about anything. Long words, Short words, you put it in front of him, and he'll figure it out.
#2 - His Vocabulary - though related to #1, he uses words in everyday sentences that most 4 year old have no comprehension of...words like "situation" and "absent"
#3 - Hand Eye Coordination - He has awesome hand - eye coordination which helps him with his outdoor play - it's amazing how playing video games can make a child learn to play catch much faster.
#4 - Problem Solving Skills - My favorite of all, if he has a problem he can figure it out without screaming for Mom every time. Only after a few times of trying will I year "Mom, I need help".
Being almost 36 weeks pregnant, video and computer games have been a blessing - since I can't do as much activity as before, he can't either - so at least he's not too bored waiting for his brother to come.

Ahhhh...that just makes me smile. My hubby and I are Tech geeks and our twins are no less. They started on the computer when they turned 1 and have never looked back. This is they way it is now and if done like yourself it can be a great learning tool. I didn't know you were pregnant. Congrats to you. Darn RSS Feed never encourages you to click over. I love your blog design...just gorgeous!
