Getting Ready For Baby

As the days draw closer to meeting our newest family addition, we've spent a lot of time making sure that we have everything we need for his arrival. With only 3 weeks to go I'm starting to feel more nervous that we're just not ready for it. Especially at night when those Braxton Hicks contractions kick in and I find myself up all night counting the minutes between them.

Though I'm only a little crampy when I get them, I know that they are helping my body get ready for the babies grand arrival. For some reason my mind takes over and wont let me sleep...I just have to count the minutes between.

I have my 37 week appointment tomorrow for my Group B Strep test, and hopefully some sign that all these contractions are doing what they're supposed to. I'm hoping for a 2 cm dilated report but I don't have my hopes up.

The one thing I am really worried about is my Crib. I thought I was all prepared, the crib was set up and the bed was made. Until this week. My mom and I were moving it across the room and the 'headboard' of the crib poped out. I'm pretty sure that they were just glued into place to begin with, and DH is going to re-glue them. But then today, I was listening on the radio when I heard that there was a recall for 2 million Storkcraft cribs sold in Canada between 2000 and 2009. When I got home I checked the brand name and sure enough, my crib is Storkcraft, and falls into the recalled items.

Though I'm sure Storkcraft will send out the replacement parts it still makes me feel uneasy. There was a recall in January 09 (that I was not aware of until today) Another Recall today, and the headboard of my crib. 3 problems before I even put baby in it. Really not feeling comfortable with this crib right now. I hold nothing against Storkcraft - Recalls happen all the time. I just wish it hadn't happened right now, just as we need the crib and don't have the extra dough to replace it.

I hope that the parts come quickly, as I don't have a bassinette for baby the crib was where he was going to sleep. Though I co-slept with our first son, I hadn't planned on doing that again either. Really having that I'm not ready feeling right now.

Thank goodness you found out about the recall now, and not after baby is here!!!! At least you have a little time. It'll all work out (and be wonderful), things always do. :)

Ahh don't sweat it....things will be fine but I know how you feel. The first crib we purchased had a recall too. We got the replacement parts eventually but the crib had life-time warranty. Didn't help us when 1 year later..we needed more parts and the company folded! DAMN!

Good luck and good health to you and baby!

I know how you feel.. I would feel really uncomfortable as well. The head board just popped out?! I'd have freaked out too. It'll all work out and baby will be safe and sound. It's good you know about the recall and can install the safety pieces before baby comes.
