I like that the trees are going to U.S. reforestation. I have seen -- and donated to -- organizations planting trees in places such as Africa, South America or the Middle East. But this is the first that I have seen reforesting U.S. parks.

I think many of us may not be as aware that there is need for reforestation here as well as other parts of the world.

I would love to plant trees in my step dad's memory as he passed away last year. His family homestead is covered with trees and he always enjoyed his yard and gardens. This year besides the rabbits and birds we always have we have deer who have made nest out in the way out in the back so even the animals enjoy his yard.

Trees are disappearing faster than any other natural commodity. Greed makes most people turn a blind eye to it. I would love to see a complete ban on tree removal in North and South America. Our Countries would be much richer in the long run. I have 150 acres and won't even let one tree fall unnaturally. JeansandTs@hotmail.com

If you're having an event, you can send them the specs, like how many people are attending, and Trees Instead will calculate how many trees need to be planted to offset the carbon footprint of the event. That's amazing. I'm sure it's also eye-opening to see how much a family reunion or a wedding can impact the environment.
