My Organized Christmas...

Well, I have decided to take the challenge put out by Headly from Stay At Home Mom To Three, What About Me? Her Challenge was to have an organized Christmas. She found a great website where you can print out all the planning sheets you might need, and it details exactly what you need to do to make your holiday season flow smoothly. The challenge officially started on October 26th, but there is still lots of time to get involved.

Well, on the 26th, I printed out all my sheets that I would need to have in order for my Organized Christmas, and yesterday I wrapped up my binder in Candy Cane wrapping paper, whole punched all my sheets and put them in. Tonight I plan to fill out my Christmas Gift List, Christmas Card list and my Gift Closet list. I think that'll be a good start!

Is your holiday season organized? Or is it mass confusion? I know, mine has always been very confused, and hectic. I'm am truly looking forward to a calmer holiday this year.

Organizing The Holidays.

Christmas or The Holiday Season is my absolute favorite time of the year. In years past, my holidays have been quite disorganized and and stressful. And really, I end up missing most of it. Last year I decided that I was not going to spend our holidays stressed out, and started planning for Christmas 2008.

The first thing I did was start a Freebie Christmas Plan. I originally posted this on the Frugal Shopper discussion forum. And many others decided to attempt this as well. I have to admit, my Christmas will not be free, but I have aquired enough national brand promos and freebies to fill most of the stockings on my list. I have gotten some really good deals on toys for Ben, and my Dad bought him his "Big" Gift. A full size drum kit.


One of the big things that I've tried to do is put away for our regular expenses. I have gas cards, grocery gift certificates, and my Santa's Choice Hamper all paid up and ready to be delivered. I always get the Chicken Hamper, as that's our meat of choice, and it saves a bunch at the grocery store. Plus, I'm locked in with 2007 prices, so I actually am getting more for my money.

So, now it is time to get everything on paper, I've been organizing in my head more than anything, and over then next week, I plan to have a binder with all my lists ready to go. So I can check things off as I accomplish them. I have a lot of plans for this holiday season and as I go I will start to plan Christmas 2009.

So...note to self. Get 2 binders and label them Christmas 2008 and Christmas 2009. Complete my Christmas Gift List and Christmas Card List. Include all known mailing addresses and phone numbers for easy access. As well as any other vital information known including sizes.

OK, so here I dive into the holiday season!!!

I don't know about all you folks out there, but living with boys is like living with a pack of wolves!! I live with two members of the male species, and I love them to both more than anything in the world. But I have to laugh sometimes at how boys are so much different from girls. Now, I may be slightly bias, as I have no daughter, but I did grow up with both a sister and a brother, and I have to say there is a definite difference. Boys a dirty, and love bugs; Girls are dainty and love pretty things. Now I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, My Barbie drove a Tonka Truck.

Ben is what makes me think of it. He is 3 years and 5 months old, and is a complete boy. He was movin' at an early age, he started crawling around 6 months, and walking at 8.5. And he hasn't stopped since. Full of bruises and bumps (permabruise - he's had them for 3 years. I keep waiting for them to go away. They never leave, they just move around a bit ) and more energy than any one person should be allowed to have. (Share Please)

Now, I say Ben is all boy because, he is drawn to "Boy Things" by nature. If he sees a dirt hill, he has to climb it. If there is a puddle in his path, Sploosh!! Cars, Trucks, Trains...OH MY! He loves to take things apart...to work with his hands. He can't get enough of his new Nerf dart guns. Ben and his father both have one. They shoot them up into the trees and see who can go higher. He loves music and always wants the "Rock and Roll" version of a song. Loves to play music he has a guitar and wants drums desperately. He's getting a full size set for Christmas thanks to his Grandfather out west. (I hope Mommy and Nana are getting earplugs for Christmas)

Now, Ben has a little girl cousin a year younger than him, and she is so cute and dainty. She poses for the camera, and flips her hair around. She just melts your heart. I couldn't imagine her getting into the same amount of messes that Ben does. ( Though I bet she's had some doozies of her own)

Easy Halloween Craft for Kids

When I was a kid in elementary school, may favorite thing to do was crafts. And I seem to remember doing a lot of them. One of the crafts I specifically remember making was tissue paper pictures. This is a really easy craft to do with the young kids. All you need is some colored tissue paper, a print out of a halloween picture, and some white glue. Choose the picture you would like to use. You can easily find some on Google.

1/Print out the template and cut it out.
2/Trace the template onto a piece of cardboard. And cut out if desired. (a cereal box will work)
3/Cut tissue paper into 2" Squares and crumple into tight balls
4/Dip tissue ball into white glue and fill in the template.
5/Let Dry and Hang.

Oh My, the deals I got at Zellers...

I love free stuff, especially when that free stuff helps to pay for the other things I buy. I have to say, I love Zellers, way better than Walmart. I scooted into Zellers yesterday to take advantage of their sale on canned mushrooms. ( A definite staple at our house) They have them on for $0.44 per can with a limit of 12. If your an SPC Card holder, that makes them $0.40 per can. How could you possibly beat that? I grabbed 12 of those, and 6 boxes of White Swan Facial Tissues. Great deal on the tissue, again, $0.44 per box, SPC brings it down to $0.40, then I had $0.50 coupons...(Paid me $0.10 per box to bring them home) Gotta love it. I was also on the hunt for some tights, It's getting pretty chilly around here, and I have a brown cord skirt that I absolutely love. Hiding behind the main rack of tights were two huge racks of marked down tights. I bought 3 pair of black tights for $3.00 ($2.70 after SPC) and 1 pair of the cutest brown striped tights for $4.99 ($4.49 after SPC)

Subtotal: $15.91
Less SPC: $1.59
Less Coupons: $3.00
Subtotal: $11.32
Plus Tax: $1.38
Total: $12.70

Not to bad if I do say so myself, I just wish the bonus point coupons were out.

He slept all night

It has been weeks since Ben has slept well, he's been waking up in the middle of the night, and staying awake for hours, then sleeping in until 10 or later. Well, last night Ben slept all night, I didn't hear a sound. He's so pleasant this morning, full of smiles and having fun.

Now, he still slept till after nine, but I would imagine that's his body trying to catch up on lost sleep. I don't work today and we need to do some shopping...Hello Zellers Sale Flyer have you met my SPC card? Off to get dressed and out to shop.

Missing Person

I was just outside when a car drove up. A lady handed me a flyer with a photo of a girl who is Missing. I had to look twice. I know this girl. Koral Lynn Clark of Kentville Nova Scotia. She and I used to work together at KFC/Pizza Hut. She was a very nice person. She has been missing since Sunday October 5th and is in need of Medical Attention. If anyone sees her please call the police.

She is 5'4" with short choppy brown hair. 165lbs, and 24 years old.

Pumpkin Hunting

Today we headed out to our local pumpkin grower, and bought our Pumpkins. I always get my pumpkins here as they have white pumpkins and those are my favorite. Daddy and Ben picked out a very Large pumpkin for the main Jack-O-Lantern, and Ben and I picked out two smaller ones. I was also able to get some colored corn and gourds for decoration. They sell corn stalks as well but they wont fit in my car. :-(

We spent $15 (NO TAX) and got 3 pumpkins, $7, $3, $2, and 5 cobs of colored corn $1, and 12 Gourds 6/$1. And our front step in now decorated for fall. I'll let you all know when we carve the pumpkins.

The longest of Nights

Last night, right before I was going to hit the hay. Ben woke up,(2:30am) well, when Ben wakes up it is normally 5 hours before he will sleep again. This is always the way, if he falls asleep in the car at supper time, it's 10 or 11 before he can sleep again. This is pretty much the rule with him. Well, last night was no exception. Woke up at 2:30, back to sleep at 6:30 (ok, only 4 hours but still) And then up again at 9:30. Too much for me, Daddy and Nanna got up with Ben ( I was the one up all night...although blogging as well) I slept until 12:45pm OMG!!! My morning gone :-(. I had to be at work for 2pm, so no home time for mommy today.

I hope everyone else had more sleep than I, and was able to accomplish more today. Hopefully I'll be able to do some Blogging/Crafting while I'm at work today. (I love my job)

A day off, but not really

I was so happy to wake up today and know that I didn't have to go to work. On average I get one day off a week now, and it is really affecting me. I can't seem to get anything done. (I do a lot of my online stuff at work, thankfully)

Today we lazed around for the first half of the day, we were tired and needed it. After lunch we headed out to the mall, to do a little shopping and pick up some crafting stuff. We went into Zellers where I bought a couple of great Christmas Presents for Ben, I got a Topple Game for under $3 and a Leapster Game for $16 and change, paid for both with Giftcard from HBC Points. (I went into a little more detail about these purchases over at Our Family Christmas) From there we went to Dollarama and got a lot of crafting stuff ( for Christmas Crafts) and a few halloween things. Ben is going to be Spider Man for Halloween this year. He found a costume at Frenchy's yesterday and loved it, so of course Mommy said yes. (Saves me a lot of headache.)

Lastly, I ran into SuperStore to get a chicken & taters, and ended up spending $50...The had picture frame sets on sale for 1.77 and 2.77. Two to Five frames in each, I couldn't pass those by as I have a lot of pics to send off for gifts for family that is up north. They also had sets of magnetic mirrors (pocket size) for 1.77 (six in each) They are square with a very plain silver border around them. I plan to deck them out for the holidays. I picked up 4 bags off freezies as well, for .29 cents a bag, I couldn't walk by them, the only bad thing is that every bag was sticky.

Then we came home, ate supper, and broke out all the crafting stuff. Ben played around for a while then lost interest. Anything I try to make he destroys. Every time, so I cannot seriously craft when he's awake. Ben made a snowman, and made glitter covered balls for later use.
