Fungi Frenzi

The Great Toadstool Hunt!

Holy Toadstool!!

The Boog and I had a bit of a toadstool frenzi today. There was a giant Toadstool that shot up in the front yard over the last two days and I had to get a picture of it. I would bet that this toadstool could have been seen from three or four houses away. Check out below for more pics of the BIG ONE!!

This is a pic of Ben and the Giant Toadstool. He poked and prodded at it with a stick. I think it's the biggest one he's ever seen. And you can guess, he kicked it and mashed it up shortly after this picture was taken.
Then the toadstool hunt began. There were many different kinds in the yard today. We've had a lot of rain lately so they had quite a boost.

We definitely had fun with the fungi today...

New toys for Mommy and Daddy on the go!!

OMG...I am still reeling over this one.

OK, so I was in need of a cell phone with plan. I've put if off for this long and I finally gave in. First I went to Alient (now Bell) because I knew one of the ladies working there. I waited for 15 min while she finished with another client (with my 3yr old ds in a shopping cart) and I walked up to her, and she looked at me and said "I was off @ 5, I'll be back tomorrow" I said " Good Enough " and walked myself and my son over to The Source just down the hall a little. I went in and got them to do the credit check first (before I got my hopes up, as I'm still not used to having good credit) :lol: Well, I was approved for up to 5 Phones with no security deposit. YIPEE ( I was shocked) So, I looked around for a bit and told them I would be back. I had to drop DS and DH off at home.

So I get back there about an hour before they close, and I picked out our phones. (Got 2) We got the NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic phones. I had noticed on the sign that you got a $100 instore credit when you got the phones on a 3year plan. Which I did. So Haley (Very nice and helpful) Told me to pick out my stuff for the credit. I picked out a portable DVD player for DH (He's wanted one for a while) it was 119.99 I figured I'd be happy to spend the $20. Then she lookes up and says...you still have $80 left. :shock: :shock: What!!! It was $100 credit per phone. It felt like Christmas :-D So I picked out some Ink for my printer, a car charger for the phones, a webcam and some good batteries for my new digital camera I had bought earlier.

Then she's ringing everything up and says "Oh, I forgot about the gas cards"...I got a 5X$10 Gas Cards for Petro Canada on top of everything else. I was absolutely flabberghasted. I spent in store a total of $19.15 and walked out with 2 New Cellphones, a portable DVD player, A car charger, a webcam 16 lithium batteries, and $50 in free Gas. Of all the freebies I've ever received, this really takes the cake.

Now, about the camera I bought...

I did buy the camera that I posted about earlier. And I absolutely love it. It takes beautiful pictures!!

I'll post more pics when I figure out all the little tricks with the camera.

If your looking for a cell phone and you in the New Minas NS, Check out Haley at the Source in The County Fair Mall. She'll take care of you.

I want a new camera!!

I want a new camera!!!

I have great love for the camera I have now. Daddy on the go and I were very pregnant and we decided it was time to buy a camera. It was May 3, 2005. Ben's Due Date. We went from one store to another looking for the best deal on a digital camera. I remember the pain in my back and legs from going from store to store. We eventually settled on a Kodak EasyShare 3.2 mega pix. We bought it from Zellers. When we sat in the car I looked down at my huge belly and told the little boog "Ok, you can come out now" 6 hours later the contractions began. 2 days later he was born. ...but now our beloved camera is in need of some assistance. The battery compartment door is held closed with duct tape. (From being dropped too many times) The USB cable caught on fire about a year ago and we've had to use a card reader ever since. So I've finally decided I want a new one.

Now, I don't have any extra room in my budget to buy anything really. So today I decided that since I am working a 12 hour shift I would devout all my TIPS towards the camera that is on sale at Canadian Tire this week. It is a Kodak 8MP C813 Digital Camera. The features include...

* 8 MP - print up to 76 x 102 cm (30 x 40")
* 3X optical zoom
* 2.4 in. (6.1 cm) indoor/outdoor colour display
* Digital image stabilization
* High ISO (up to 1,250)
* HD still capture - view your pictures in high definition on an HDTV or other HD device
* Video with sound and print options

I'm really looking forward to having video with audio. The camera I have now there is no mic for audio. So all the video's are soundless. Ben loves to sing so much, and play his guitar. I hate that I wont have anything to look back and listen to when he's grown. I think that alone is worth the $112.97 (total cost).

So far today, I've come up with $55.80, a little more than half. Not bad. I have a few bags of pop bottles I can return for refund in the morning as well. I would imagine that would get me to $80.00 I think I can afford to take the rest out of our budget.

I'm really looking forward to posting some comparison pictures, and being able to hear my boog on tape. As of this afternoon Canadian Tire Had 20 instock so I am hoping they still have on around 9:15am tomorrow. That's the earliest I can get there. Keep you fingers crossed for me and I'll update tomorrow on the outcome.

Have a great night

The day that never ends.

5am...yeah 5am was when the Boog decided it was time for our day to start. It is now 11:18 and I can barely keep my eyes open. It was a big day today. Boog got a new babysitter. His first in over a year. We've always worked our schedule so that we didn't need a sitter, but with myself putting in more hours at the Club we need a sitter. Luckily Daddy has a 14 year old cousin who is available from time to time, after school and weekends and the Boog just loves her. I was so happy when he didn't even show a flicker of apprehension being left with her. Mind you, they were only alone for about 1.5 hours. I told him it was time for Mommy to go to work, he came over, gave me a hug and a kiss and said "Ok, Mommy, I'll stay with K." He's so proud that she was babysitting her. When Daddy on the go made it home, He had to drive K home. Ben was so upset. He didn't want her to go yet. I think they had fun today. Before I left he had showed her about 50% of his toys, and by the mess of toys on the floor right now, I think she saw the other 50% while we were away. A big thanks to K for making it easy for me to leave my Baby with you. :)

I managed to get a few of the links working on SaveYourCents tonight. I was having trouble getting the links to open, but I think I have it down pat now. I work 10am to 10pm tomorrow at the Club, so hopefully I'll be able to get the rest of the links working during the slow times. It looks as though I may need to find someone who can work a few mornings a week at the Club. It's a hard job to fill as there isn't many hours available. Mariya, I wish you were still in the Valley, You would fit in so well there. But, alas...your not. Thank-Goodness for Facebook and MSN.

I had planned to do some of my freelance work tonight, but I think my eyes are so tired that I would end up reversing numbers. So I think I'll stay away from that tonight. I just wanted to leave a note here to remind myself someday, when I no longer have a million and one things to do...not complain about being bored...I will have earned the right to be bored. But until that day comes, many many years from now, I am going to enjoy having a very full life!!

Have a good night everyone

Jealous of a camera...and a chance for free coffee

I have to say, I am very new to blogging...But it's a lot of fun to read other blogs and see what happens in the lives of others. One of the blogs I've become addicted to is MommyKnows. I have to say I check this a few times a day. So, I was very excited when I got home from work and I checked the RSS feed and Yipee!! A new post, and a contest.
Kim recently got a new camera and I have to say, she takes beautiful pictures. I love G's hair, it's almost snow white. Between the Nikon 300 Camera and the skill of Kim, her pictures have more intensity then I've seen yet from a digital camera. Check out Kims photo's and Blog.
Have a great night!!

Another Day In a Busy Mommy's Life

Well, today was another one of those slow starting mornings. Because of the night before, the Boog's sleeping schedule is all messed up. So he didn't hit the hay until almost 1am. Then I spent another hour online, though I don't think I accomplished much. We got up around 8:30 am and I attacked the laundry monster. It's an ongoing battle, right now the monster is winning, but I should be able to get a good hit or two in tomorrow. I had probably 7 loads to fold, and when I tried to put them away, guess what...The dressers were already full. Soooo, I had to purge. I spent about an hour purging and putting away. And I have to say I feel much better about the fight now.
After lunch (microwaved minipizza) and emptying and refilling the dishwasher we went for our daily walk to the mailbox. I walk, the Boog rides his bike. No mail for me but the Boog got some prizes from Chapman's Kids Club .

He was very happy with his score.

Then we went for a walk to catch the bus. I gave us an hour to get there so we could enjoy the walk. And we definitely did. I think his favorite part of all was when we were at the bus stop waiting. The stop is on a busy road, so I make him stay in the ditch. He get's dirty but I don't have to keep him away from the road. His greatest accomplisment today was "Climbing the Mountain" When he got to the top he did a little dance. It was precious.

I think my favorite part of our walk was when we stopped to smell the flowers. Boog loves to smell flowers, you can barely walk by anything that grows without him wanting to see it, play with it, smell it or pick it. I keep telling him that we shoudn't pick things, just let them grow. Be a tree hugger, not a tree hater. I think he'll get it eventually.

After he smelled the flowers, he picked them and crushed them up. Hopefully we'll get past that soon.

Well, I didn't get any work done on SaveYourCents today, and I wont tonight either. But I remember now what I accomplished late last night. I started a facebook group for saveyourcents. Tonight I'll be doing some freelance stuff. I'm hoping to earn enough on my next pay to buy a new camera as mine is being held together with duct tape. It's 3 years old ( We bought it the day Ben was due...May 3 2005) I remember, right after we bought it I looked at my belly and said, "OK, you can come out now" I went in labour that night, he was born 2 days later. Born on 05/05/05 at 5:38...I wonder what his lucky number is??

Well, all in all today was a good day. I got quite a bit accomplished and hopefully I'm not done yet. Enjoy your evening folks, I'll be back tomorrow. NIGHTY NIGHT.

What is in a day?

Well, today was one of those days. Last night, or earily this morning (2am) Ben woke up. He had a bit of a stuffy nose and had a lot of trouble getting back to sleep. So we were up until 5am. Yeah, so I am a tired mommy today. We drug our bums out of bed at around 10:30am and started our day. I did a load of laundry, gave my boog (Ben) FruitLoops for breaky, and turned on the computer. I was hoping to receive the E-cards I had ordered from LUSH for the LINKBACK contest I am holding on www.saveyourcents.ca, but when I ordered them I had put in the wrong email address. So then I spent some time trying to contact LUSH so they could track my purchase and resend the E-cards. After a few hours the E-Cards arrived in my Inbox. YIPEEEEE!!
The Boog and I had Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwiches for lunch. When my MIL made it home from work I took a little nap. Greatly needed. While I was napping the boog's stuffy nose returned and he decided he would self medicate. He got the Buckley's rub and decided to put it on himself. Then he jumped on me. (While I was sleeping) He startled me and I was short with him at first. He was upset and rubbed his eyes. This was before I knew about the vapor rub on his hand. I saw his beautiful eyes well up with tears, I grabbed him and ran to the bathroom to try to rinse his eyes. He was hysterical. "Mommy it burns, I can't open my eyes" I flushed his eyes and then I cleaned them with LID CARE. He grabbed his sookie and his blanket, and went to lay on his bed. I really didn't want him to go to sleep just yet. It was 5pm. I don't want him to be up all night again tonight. But when I asked him to come out of his room he said "But MOM I'm really not feeling well. So I let him lay there and watch his newest favorite movie, OPEN SEASON. Within 10 minutes He was In dreamland, and I was off to the club for work.
So now, I am at the club, it is 9pm (we close in one hour) and I am telling you all about my day. There is a HUGE Thunderstorm coming in my direction.
Well, the boog is still sleeping, So I can imagine it will be another late night. Maybe I'll put some of that time to good use and get some housework done. We have a new Babysitter starting on Wednesday and I need to make our living space a little more user friendly. Have a great night everyone!!

The Sanity Of Mom's

So...I've decided to Blog. On top of everything else I do, I'm going to add something else to it. Have you ever wondered about the sanity of moms?? I do regularly, especially my own. For example, my life. I am slowly taking over management of my Step Fathers Billiards Club, I am doing freelance work for a local company, (although this week was a complete right off), I am building a website (www.saveyourcents.ca) But first to ALL of that I am a Mom to a beautiful 3 year old Son, Ben, And a wife (sort of) to Daddy on the go.

Many would ask, When do you find time to do all of this?? The honest answer is that I don't. I make time by doubling up. I work on my website while I'm working at the Billiards Club and I give up other things (mainly housekeeping and sleep) in order to enjoy the things In my life I value the most. As I write this it is 12:44am, and I am no where near ready for bed yet.

So for now, I'm going to keep this entry short, as I haven't looked through everything in here yet. I still need to figure out how to post pics and videos. But I'll be back tomorrow. (or actually later today)

Sleep Tight Everyone
