Vélodrome d'Hiver...Sarah's Key Contest

Vélodrome d'Hiver-Ever Heard of it? Neither have I.

When Jamie posted about the novel 'Sarah's Key' she peaked my interest. Written by Tatiana de Rosnay about the life of two girls. One living in today's Paris, the other in occupied France during the Second World War. Written about "Rafle du Vel' d'Hiv" or "Vel' d'Hiv round-up". A holding camp for Thousands of Jews durring the Second World War, in occupied France. If this peaks your interest as much as it has mine, check out Jamie's Contest for a chance to win a free copy of Sarah's Key.

Check it out!

a 74 year old grandmother of 10 I started studying the Holocaust more than fifty years ago with Andre Schwartz-Bart's " The Last of the Just"-and other than "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" ( art from Terezinstadt where no one survived ) I have never been so moved. The book is artful and profound. Eveery library should have a copy and I will buy one for each of my childrens' families! bobbi schimmel

I just finished reading "Sarah's Key". I had never heard anything of the round-up. What a touching novel with the historical events included. Definately a kleenex box novel. Kudos to Tatiana de Rosnay...

I just finished reading Sarah's Key and loved it... it was a book that I wanted to keep reading and very hard to put down when I had to.. it is now being shared with my sister and soon my mother.. I never heard about the Vel d'Hiv and was shocked at hearing about even more horrifying events that took place.. the story is informative of the event and loving woman who sought her own sort of justice... a great book!!

I had just finished Sarah's Key and absolutely fell in love with this story of courage and determination of this little girl only a year older than my brother. I am a senior and as a middle schooler, I had pretty much cleaned out the library of books relating to the holocaust and german occupation. But, this book etched something in my mind that I can't forget...the great struggle of these parents and their children...the bravery and sorrow that we have so long forgotten. I will always remember this haunting yet moving story.

I am almost finished with Sarah's Key, given to me as a Christmas present. It is not only easy reading, it is intriging and very informative. I am enjoying the book immensely and a few of my friends are waiting to read the book when I'm finished. Excellent book.

Sarah's Key has special meaning for me and my family. As a soldier in the US army, I met my wife on the liberation in Europe. She had been interned in French camps and also lived under an assumed name in hiding. I still have a yellow star that she had worn. Sara is also my wife's name. Sarah's Key is a real page turner!!!

I am reading "Sarah's Key" and have a difficult time putting it down. I have to, at times, because it is so overwhelmingly sad, I have to cry. I will recommend this book to my friends and family...so we will never forget
